Ok, so as a social studies educator, and political scientist, I want to point out how biased and incorrect this “chant” is. Take a step back from your overly conservative viewpoint and look at the big picture:
Why, in the most powerful and wealthy country in the world, are hardworking middle class people forced to go WITHOUT health insurance simply because it is too expensive? How can we expect people to open new business, therein allowing for the scientific advancement called for in the CONSTITUTION, when they are discouraged because of the outrageous cost of health care?
In case you were wondering (and obviously not doing your research), the health care reform proposal IS NOT socialized or nationalized health care. It is a PUBLIC OPTION. In case you also don’t understand economics, by providing a BUSINESS that will undercut the prices of the major insurance corporations, it will force prices down all around, actually creating MORE competition (which is actually more capitalistic).
Sure, taxes will probably go up some at first, but the idea is that eventually the Public Option will be a completely self sufficient machine that will run without tax dollars. It has to get worse before it gets better. Have a care for your fellow human beings, those who are dying, whose CHILDREN are dying because of a lack of health insurance, and actually make a contribution to the welfare of humankind.
Also, President Obama (whose middle name is purely coincidental and has NOTHING to do with his leadership, try to respect different cultures) has been in office for LESS THAN A YEAR. Is it truly realistic to expect him to have fixed the economic crisis (which is worldwide), addressed the conflict in the Middle East and solved the Social Security dilemma already? Seriously, THINK about it. These are problems which have been brewing for years, and in the case of social security and the Middle East for DECADES, the product of many selfish decisions.
Lastly, I have yet to see actual PROOF that President Obama has talked to terrorists, or even Ahmedinejad, who is actually a legitimate leader, and who has even publicly voiced disapproval of Obama? They aren’t bedfellows at all.
Keep in mind that Americans have landed themselves (and don’t get me wrong, I love my country, I’m just aware of reality) in a huge mess due to their failure to accept and understand other cultures. NEWSFLASH: ethnocentrism has never gotten anyone anywhere. We live in an age of globalization, it’s time to live and let live. The tide is turning, even in a theocracy like Iran, and people need to get used to the idea that ALL MEN (AND WOMEN) ARE CREATED EQUAL, not just white men. Grow up and move on, it’s a new world. Either jump aboard or get left behind.
